Tournament Maker

Web Edition — トーナメントメーカー

Tournament Maker app icon

From the draw to a shareable bracket, in your browser.

Tournament Maker creates tournament brackets from a participant list. Enter names, affiliations and seed rankings, generate a draw, record match winners, and save or share the bracket as Excel or PDF.

Use it in a browser on iPhone, Android or a computer. Add it to your phone's home screen for quick access from its icon.

Opens in a new tab. The app interface is in Japanese. This is a personal hobby project; please read the usage notes.

What It Does

Enter participants and reuse CSV lists

Enter each participant's name, affiliation and seed ranking. Use 行追加 (Add Row) for more entries, or import a prepared participant list from CSV.

CSV保存 (Save CSV) exports the participant list only. It does not include the draw or match results.

Consider seeds and affiliations

The app uses rankings for seeding and tries to keep participants from the same affiliation apart in early rounds. Leave the ranking blank or enter 0 for an unseeded participant.

It includes byes when needed and considers how evenly they are distributed.

Select winners and record progress

Choose winners in 勝敗入力 (Match Results) to advance them to the next round. Red lines show their progress through the bracket, all the way to the champion.

Changing a result in an earlier round resets the results of all later rounds.

Save and share Excel or PDF files

Use 保存 (Save) or 共有 (Share) to choose Excel (.xlsx) or PDF, with or without results. Prepare a bracket for distribution before the event or keep a record afterwards.

Choose a maximum of 32, 64 or 128 bracket slots per page. This controls page splitting, not the total number of participants allowed.

How the Draw Works

It compares candidate draws instead of simply shuffling names.

A purely random order may put participants from the same affiliation against each other immediately, or leave byes concentrated in one part of the bracket.

The app creates multiple candidate draws around the seed placements. It evaluates early meetings between participants from the same affiliation and the distribution of byes, then selects a placement from those candidates.

This is not a draw in which every possible bracket has an equal chance of being selected. Depending on the participant list, meetings within the same affiliation cannot always be avoided. Check the generated draw against your event's rules and seeding requirements.

How to Use

  1. Enter the tournament name and at least two participant names. Add affiliations and rankings as needed, or use CSV読込 (Import CSV) to load a participant list.
  2. Choose 1ページ最大 (Maximum Slots per Page), then select 表作成 (Generate Bracket).
  3. Review the preview. To distribute the draw before the event, use 保存 (Save) and export an Excel or PDF file with 結果なし (Without Results).
  4. As the event progresses, select the winner of each match by round in 勝敗入力 (Match Results).
  5. To keep a record, use 保存 (Save) or 共有 (Share) and export Excel or PDF with 結果あり (With Results).

Pressing 表作成 again generates a new draw and resets match results. Export a confirmed bracket or any results you need to keep before generating another draw.

Add to Home Screen

If you use it regularly, add it to your phone's home screen for quick access. There is no need to search for it in the App Store or Google Play.

Add the Tournament Maker app itself, opened from the link below, not this introduction page.

iPhone — Safari

  1. Open Tournament Maker in Safari.
  2. Open Safari's Share menu. Depending on the layout, it may be inside the “…” menu.
  3. Choose “Add to Home Screen”.
  4. Check the name, then tap “Add”.

Use the new home-screen icon next time. If “Add to Home Screen” is missing, check “Edit Actions” in the Share menu.

If the option is missing

If you opened the page inside another app, such as LINE, copy the URL and open it in Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. You can also use the app directly in your browser without adding an icon.

Adding a home-screen icon provides a convenient way to open the app; it does not guarantee offline startup. Use it with an internet connection.

Notes

Your current work is stored in your browser

The current tournament name, participants, bracket and match results are saved automatically in the browser you are using. This is not a library of separately saved tournaments, and it does not automatically sync to another device.

Clearing the browser's site data may erase your work. Export any records you need before using actions that replace or reset it, such as 表作成 (Generate Bracket), CSV読込 (Import CSV), サンプル (Sample) or 全クリア (Clear All).

CSV and Excel/PDF preserve different things

CSV saves names, affiliations and rankings for reuse. It does not contain the bracket or match results, so importing a CSV cannot restore the same draw or your progress through it.

Save Excel or PDF files as well to keep the bracket and results. These files are records for viewing and distribution; they cannot be imported back into the app to resume editing.

Sharing and use at an event

共有 (Share) passes your selected Excel or PDF file to your device's sharing options. Where file sharing is not supported, the app downloads the file instead. Check the recipients and distribution scope, as files include participant names and affiliations.

Before using the app at an event, check that bracket creation and file saving work on your device. Prepare Excel or PDF copies in advance in case the internet connection is unavailable.
